Membership
These rules explain how BooksWhale annual membership, Bookshelf, claims, Library access, renewals, and rewards work.

BooksWhale annual membership is currently configured as $9.90 per year. The exact price, renewal terms, taxes, if any, and payment details are shown at Stripe Checkout before payment.
Membership is intended to make access simple and avoid repeated small single-book payments.
Bookshelf is for saving books before claiming them. A book in Bookshelf is not yet in your Library and does not provide full reading or download access.
An active annual membership may allow up to 365 book claims per membership year. A claim adds a selected edition to your Library and is final once made.
Annual membership renews yearly unless canceled before the next renewal date. Stripe handles payment methods, invoices, and billing management.
If you cancel renewal, your membership remains active until the end of the paid period. Canceling renewal does not undo claims already made.
BooksWhale may grant book credits or membership-related benefits for approved feedback, manuscript contributions, translation contributions, or other platform programs.
Active annual members may also buy optional one-time extra book credit add-ons when available. The current starter add-on is 100 extra book credits for $9.90. Purchased extra credits stay in the account long term, but an active annual membership is required to use purchased extra credits for new claims.
BooksWhale may apply fair-use limits to downloads, automated access, scraping, repeated account creation, suspicious claim patterns, or other behavior that threatens the service.
Membership and claim rules may be updated as BooksWhale learns from real usage, with the goal of keeping the service fair, affordable, and sustainable.
